This portfolio illustrates my teaching experiences while a doctoral student at the University of Kansas.
My passion for learning and sharing knowledge has shaped my career goals. I see education as the most precious gift one can give, and as such I value and recognize the impact that a positive learning experience can have on a student. As an educator I hope to instill a life-long love of learning in my students and inspire them to pursue and achieve their educational goals.
Through my teaching, I aim to present information clearly, accessibly, and engagingly. Clarity of communication and openness in the student-teacher relationship can help build a solid foundation for learning and establish trust between the student and teacher. Accessibility in the classroom takes many forms, all aimed at ensuring students have equal opportunities to engage with and relate to the materials. Student engagement relies largely on the instructor's capacity to establish appropriate learning outcomes and pair them with content and activities that are enjoyable and build on foundational and developing knowledge.
In Fall 2019, I completed a directed teaching experience in an undergraduate research methods course at the University of Kansas under the guidance of Dr. Nancy Brady. Previously, I was a graduate teaching assistant for this course in the 2015-2016 academic year under the supervision of Dr. Steven F. Warren.
In Summer 2019, I was a graduate teaching assistant for an online undergraduate language development course under the supervision of Dr. Meghan Davidson at the University of Kansas.
